Welcome to Marginal Notes

This is the first post on Marginal Notes — a blog about technology, economics, and finance, written from whatever I happen to be working on at the time.

The name is a small pun: “marginal” as in the economist’s favorite word (marginal cost, marginal utility, the thing that changes at the edges), and “notes” as in these are working notes, not finished essays.

A few things to expect:

  • Short writeups on technical systems and how they behave in practice, not just in the docs.
  • Notes on markets, data, and the occasional bit of economic reasoning applied to something mundane.
  • No fixed schedule — posts go up when there’s something worth writing down.
